All about riding with the team
Riding with SCC team
Anyone within the Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy school distric, both public and private can ride with the team. We can include all the kids from 6th grade to 12th grade.
Riding with the team is a fun experience! We have riders of all the skills levels and having pre-experience is NOT necessary.
The official season starts in December and ends in June, with the school. We usually ride 3 times a week starting in December with plenty of opportunities for rides in fall through the pre-season rides and other social ride activities that we plan in the off-season. Racing is not mandatory, you can just join our rides!
We want to give every kids the opportunity to try, challenge themself and enjoy sometime outdoor with other kids.
We usually ride locally in our beautiful trails system: Calero, Coyote Space Preserve, Harvey bear, Santa Teresa, Fort Ord, Santa Cruz, Los Gatos.

Athletic and skills development
Training with the team
Many of our team member love the competition and like to challenge themself to grow in the sport.
Out primary focus is SAFETY: we need to ensure our riders understand their limits and focus on developing the proper skills progressively. We have specific sessions planned for that: learn how to separate body and bike during braking, turns and in all the different riding conditions. Learn to know your bike and properly set it up.
We are planning during the season parallel activities and off bike training to help developing our riders core strenghts and stamina. We will monitor and measure performance metrics and their progression throught the season.

The racing experience
Racing in NorCal
A NICA MTB race is an exciting and unique experience.
The team races in the NorCal league in the Central/East Bay group. They organize usually 4-5 races per season, the closest one at Fort Ord (Monterrey), the furthest being at Six Sigma ranch (past Napa Valley).
The race weekend usually involves the opportunity to pre-ride the trails on Friday afternoon and schdule the race usually on Saturday. Some of them might involve camping or overnight at a close hotel and it is usually a great occasion for creating strong team bonds under the stars.
We support and cheers all of our riders and work together during warm-up and pre-rides to assure the kids are ready for their big time on the bike.
As previously mentioned racing is not mandatory, but most of the kids get easily hooked to the exciting experience of a NorCal race.
Our coaches and team Captain are ready for supporting them through the process, with positivity and encouragement.
